Description
Abstract
The Ministry of Education’s "High School English Curriculum Standards" included cultural knowledge as one of the six key elements of high school English courses. This study analyzed the current status of Chinese culture infiltration in high school English teaching through questionnaires and teacher interviews, explored existing problems, and proposed corresponding improvement suggestions. The research found that although teachers recognize the importance of cultural teaching, they often neglect the teaching of Chinese culture in practical instruction. Students lack the ability to express Chinese culture in English, reflecting a lack of effective cultural infiltration in English language teaching. In response to these issues, it is recommended that teachers enhance their personal cultural literacy, flexibly utilize various teaching methods, and design diverse classroom activities to promote students' cultural awareness and intercultural communicative competence. Additionally, students are encouraged to establish correct cultural learning attitudes, fully utilize various resources to understand Chinese culture, and actively participate in cultural activities to improve their cultural confidence and intercultural communicative competence.
