ATLAS Ontology – Version 2.0 Release Notes

The ATLAS Ontology is an OWL 2 DL ontology designed to model scholarly research projects and their outcomes within the domain of Cultural Heritage.
It provides a structured representation of key types of research outputs, including:

  • Text Collections
  • Digital Scholarly Editions
  • Linked Open Data
  • Ontologies
  • Software
  • Language Models (introduced in version 2.0)
  • 3D Digital Twins (introduced in version 2.0)

What's New in Version 2.0

  • Introduced two new classes: atlas:LanguageModel and atlas:3DDigitalTwin
  • Added alignments with external ontologies: OntoSoft Ontology, BIBFRAME
  • Removed deprecated namespaces: foaf, swo
  • Refined and updated several RDF properties to improve modeling precision

This release includes the serialized ATLAS Ontology v2.0, updated mapping files, and comprehensive changelog documentation.
