Монографія присвячена висвітленню етнокультурних та історичних процесів, що відбувалися на теренах України за доби раннього середньовіччя (V - IX ст.). У ній підведено підсумки більш як столітнього вивчення старожитностей тюркомовних та слов’янських народів, окреслено характер взаємовідносин між ними та впливів передових тогочасних цивілізацій на процес їхнього розвитку та на формування у східноєвропейських етносів феодальних держав: у тюркомовних народів - Хозарського каганату, а у східних слов’ян - України-Русі.

The monograph is devoted to the coverage of ethnocultural and historical processes that took place on the territory of Ukraine during the early Middle Ages (V - IX centuries). It summarizes the results of more than a century of study of the antiquities of the Turko-speaking and Slavic peoples, outlines the nature of the relationship between them and the influence of the advanced civilizations of that time on the process of their development and on the formation of feudal states among the Eastern European ethnic groups: among the Turkic-speaking peoples - the Khazar Khaganate, and among the Eastern Slavs Yan — Ukraine-Rus.
