Futurist-Job Fit Measure

Description

The Futurist-Job Fit Measure (FJFM) is a comprehensive self-assessment tool designed to evaluate the qualifications and suitability of futurists for various roles. By categorizing futurists into six distinct types, the measure provides valuable insights into areas for professional development and alignment with desired roles. The FJFM enhances futurists’ self-awareness through 45 indicators. It also serves as a strategic tool for organizations seeking to optimize their workforce in strategic foresight. This paper outlines the development and validation of the FJFM. It demonstrates the tools’ reliability and validity based on a pilot study with a sample size of 150 candidates applying for futurist jobs. The pilot study employed rigorous statistical methods to assess the measure’s psychometric properties. Exploratory factor analysis confirmed a clear factor structure aligning with the nine determining factors of the FJFM, yielding a Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) measure of 0.88, indicating adequate sampling adequacy, and a significant Bartlett’s test of sphericity (p < 0.001). Reliability analysis revealed high internal consistency across all factors, with Cronbach’s alpha values ranging from 0.84 to 0.92. Moreover, test-retest reliability demonstrated stability over time, with a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.85 (p < 0.01) between initial and follow-up assessments. The findings suggest that the FJFM is a valid and reliable instrument for assessing person-job fit among futurists.
