Remanence remembered - an exploration case history from western Tasmania
Description
A magnetic anomaly apparently sourced within Neoproterozoic strata in western Tasmania has attracted exploration attention repeatedly since it was first identified in 1960. Two drill holes, three decades apart have been targeted at the source of the anomaly, ostensibly unsuccessfully. Re-examination of magnetic property data obtained from the first hole drilled indicates that the material responsible for the magnetic feature has likely been intersected, just not recognised as such.
