Data Management Plan (DMP)

The presentation was created for the NFDI-MatWerk Summer School 2024. The content provides a deep dive into the topic of "Data Management Plans" (DMP). It begins with an introduction to the subject by drawing an analogy to the equivalent goal of proper knowledge collection in the sense of a library. It is explained that the DMP currently serves as a crutch in the media transformation, as there are still no comprehensive purely digital processes for data processing. The presentation further addresses the content of a DMP. The approach is tool-agnostic, and participants are encouraged to understand the purpose of the DMP and be guided towards self-help: What does the current technical infrastructure look like that is available for my research project, and where are there blind spots? To this end, there is an exercise called the "Data Map" that visualizes the technical infrastructure and makes it more tangible.
