FCC Construction Carbon Footprint Benchmark and Optimisation Strategies

The analysis aims to evaluate the carbon budget of the Future Circular Collider (FCC) construction phase, to establish a credible benchmark, and leveraging Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). This approach ensures a comprehensive assessment in line with the European standard Norm EN 17472, which provides requirements and guidelines for calculating and reporting GHG emissions associated with infrastructure projects. We propose some realistic pathways to reduce considerably the consequences of the future construction and give some recommendations on future aspects that need to be considered in during the design phase.
