CALCULATION OF L-SHELL IONISATION AND X-RAY PRODUCTION CROSS-SECTIONS FOR SOME TRANS-URANIUM ELEMENTS INDUCED BY PROTONS

Using a computational analysis, the study determine the L-shell ionisation cross sections of
Neptunium (Np), Plutonium (Pu) and Americium (Am); obtained the L-subshell X-ray production
cross sections for the trans-uranium targets using a newly written computer code and determined the
energy dependence of L-subshells ionisation and X-ray production cross sections of Np, Pu and Am.
This was with a view to determining the targets L-subshells cross sections necessary for quantitative
spectroscopic analytical applications.
