Detection and Analysis of Moral Values in Argumentation

This paper presents an AI-based technology for morals detection and analysis in argumentation. More precisely, the developed argumentation technology enables: (1) automatic moral foundations’ detection in large-scale datasets of dialogical arguments, which can create invaluable resources as training materials for moral argument generation; (2) the statistical summaries and visual representations of moral foundations patterns in argumentation, which reveal empirical insights into moral arguments and guide further moral argument generation in the argumentation system. Drawing upon the annotated moral arguments, the paper provides demonstrative examples of moral argument analysis, showcasing the practical utility of the proposed argument technology.
