Sangrillo, Sangregado (CR), Sangre de gallo, Sangre, Cricamola, Suela (P).
Terrestrial trees. Distribution in PILA 0–1600 m, low elevation mixed forest, mixed forest in transition to low elevation forest, mixed forest in transition to cloud forest, cloud forest. Global distribution: Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Colombia to the Guyanas, Brazil, Argentina. Records: A. Rodríguez, Sept 29, 2007 (Field obs.). Uses: timber, medicinal.
