4. Bryophyllum Salisbury (1805: t. 3), basionym of Kalanchoe subg. Bryophyllum (Salisb.) Koorders (1919: 170).

Type [species] of the genus name Bryophyllum:— Bryophyllum calycinum Salisbury (1805: t. 3), currently accepted name Kalanchoe pinnata (Lamarck 1786: 141) Persoon (1805: 446). See Smith & Figueiredo (2018a: 169, 2018b: 220–222), Smith (2022: 88–89), and Smith & Figueiredo (2023: 280) (Fig. 4A).

Type specimen of the name Cotyledon pinnata, basionym of Kalanchoe pinnata:—[MAURITIUS]. s.l., s.d., [P.] Sonnerat s.n. (holotype Herb. P barcode P00297646, https://science.mnhn.fr/institution/mnhn/collection/p/item/ p00297646). See Wickens (1987: 27), Smith & Figueiredo (2018a: 169, 2018b: 222), Smith et al. (2019: 263–267), and Smith & Figueiredo (2023: 280) (Fig. 4B).

Nomenclatural notes:—The autonymic K. subg. Kalanchoe was automatically established when K. subg. Bryophyllum was published by Koorders (1919: 170) (see Turland et al. 2018: Articles 6.8, 22.1, and 22.3).

Taxonomic notes:— Bryophyllum is currently recognised at the rank of subgenus under Kalanchoe, as K. subg. Bryophyllum (Salisb.) Koorders (1919: 170) (see Smith 2022: 88–89).
