SECURING THE FUTURE: ADDRESSING IOT VULNERABILITIES IN HEALTHCARE THROUGH ROBUST SECURITY STRATEGIES
Creators
Description
The rapid growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) presents unparalleled opportunities for creativity across different industries, especially in healthcare. While IoT devices can offer significant enhancements in patient monitoring and care quality, their incorporation presents noteworthy security obstacles. This thesis explores serious weaknesses related to interconnected devices in healthcare, with a focus on the growing number of devices, the absence of standardized security procedures, and insufficient resources for maintenance and safeguarding. Primary security concerns include obsolete firmware, unencrypted communication channels, and inadequate authentication mechanisms that endanger patient confidentiality and data accuracy. The research examines different security measures, such as encryption for safeguarding data, improved authentication methods, intrusion detection systems for monitoring threats, blockchain technology for secure data transactions, and machine learning for identifying anomalies. By tackling these security challenges and suggesting thorough solutions, this research aims to contribute to a safer implementation of IoT technologies in healthcare, ensuring that progress does not jeopardize patient security or privacy.
