Tolypella porteri (F.K. Daily) R.E. Romanov comb. et stat. nov.
Basionym:— Tolypella hispanica var. porteri F.K. Daily Butler Univ. Bot. St. 11(8/17): 144. 1954
Holotype (Daily 1954: 145):— USA, Wyoming, Albany County, forming rounded, cushion-like tufts in ca. 2 ft. of alkaline water in a small lake, 7 miles southwest of Laramie, 7.200 ft. altitude, 25 August 1952, Porter 6191, (BUT 505222). The isotype is stored in NY (00887622).
Type locality (Daily 1954: 145):— USA, Wyoming, Albany County, 7 miles southwest of Laramie, small lake.
≡ Tolypella nidifica var. porteri (F.K. Daily) R.D. Wood Taxon 11: 23. 1962
Tolypella jwalae Labh & B.N. Verma (1983: 386), a dioecious species described from India, is actually a species of Nitella C. Agardh according to its protologue.
