Conidiomata globose, immersed to erumpent, brown, up to 250 μm diam, opening by means of an irregular rupture; wall of 3–6 layers of brown textura angularis. Conidiophores reduced to conidiogenous cells. Conidiogenous cells lining the inner cavity, hyaline, smooth, ampulliform to subcylindrical, proliferating percurrently at apex, mono- to polyphialidic, 5–20 × 4–5 μm. Paraphyses intermingled among conidiogenous cells, hyaline to pale brown, smooth to verruculose, 0–2-septate, subcylindrical with obtuse ends, 30–50 × 3–4 μm. Conidia solitary, hyaline, smooth, guttulate, subcylindrical to fusoid-ellipsoid, straight to curved, apex apiculate, tapering at base to truncate hilum, 2–4 μm diam, (36–)40–46(–53) × (7–)8–9(–10) μm; apex with flared mucoid appendage, up to 25 μm long, 20 μm diam (based on CPC 23897).

Culture characteristics:— Colonies dirty white on all media, with moderate aerial mycelium and feathery margins, covering dish in 1 mo.
