Description

Thymus zetlandicus Ronniger & Druce in Druce (1925: 649)

Type (lectotype, designated here):— UNITED KINGDOM. Shetland. Inseln, fitful Head, 1924, Druce G. C. s.n. (WRonniger 2008-0019864! upper specimen, isolectotypes W-Ronniger 2008-0019866!, W-Ronniger 2008-0019867!; image of the lectotype is available at http://herbarium.univie.ac.at/database/detail.php? ID =499535).

Protologue citation:—“Scalloway; Fitful Head. As a forma nana with very small foliage, summit of Ranas Hill”.

Taxonomic notes:— Thymus zetlandicus is a variant with densely haired leaves of Th. drucei Ronniger (see note on Th. britannicus).
