Description

(Uploaded by Plazi for the Bat Literature Project) New data on the biology of the Nematodes Muspiceidae, provided by the study of a Chiropteran parasite : Lukonema lukoschusi n. g., n. sp. Description of Lukonema lukoschusi n. gen., n. sp., Nematode Muspiceidae living inside the uro patagium of different Chiroptera from Surinam and French Guyana. Related to Muspicea, parasite of mice, and to Riouxgolvania, parasite of European Chiroptera, Lukonema is characterised by non atrophied œsophagal tube and stichosome, trophosome derived from the intestine, osmo-excretory system apparently derived from the œsophago-glandular system, a pair of large phasmidoid cells with possibly a nutritional function.
