Mamíferos do Museu de Zoologia Newton Baião de Azevedo da Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais – Unidade Carangola: representatividade e uso público

(Uploaded by Plazi for the Bat Literature Project) Mammals of the Museu de Zoologia Newton Baião de Azevedo: representativeness and public use. The mammal collection of the Museu de Zoologia Newton Baião de Azevedo consists of 601 specimens of 95 species. The collection is kept in scientific repositories with some specimens in an exhibition hall open to the public. The geographic origin of specimens cover areas of the Atlantic Forest and Amazon, most of them from the Atlantic Forest of Minas Gerais State. Most of the species represented belong to Rodentia, followed by Didelphimorphia and Chiroptera. The most frequent species are Marmosops incanus (37) e Akodon montensis (32). The collection contains rare, endemic, exotic and threatened species.
