Description
Abstract: The study examines the impact of trade openness on energy consumption of India using annual time series data for the time period 1990 to 2022. The study employs autoregressive distributed lags (ARDL) bound testing approach. Our findings based on ARDL indicate that trade openness and especially imports exert positive impact on energy consumption, whereas exports reduce the energy consumption. The study underscores the importance of energy efficient and energy saving technologies in both industries and transportation sectors for sustainable development.
