FIRE PROTECTION OF CONSTRUCTION WORKS WITH THE PRESERNCE OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES
Authors/Creators
Description
It was established that the growing amount of production and sales of electric vehicles aggravated the problems associated with ensuring fire safety of facilities with their presence. The lack of uniform approaches and scientifically substantiated requirements for fire protection of parking lots with charging points as well as underground parking lots for storing electric vehicles was revealed. It was found that the burning of lithium-ion batteries occurred mainly as a result of the release of flammable gaseous substances from them due to thermal runaway or depressurization of the batteries as a result of mechanical impacts. Simulation of the temperature fields during the free burning of a “Tesla Model S” electric car was conducted and fire separation distances to adjacent building structures and adjacent parked vehicles were determined at which the spread of fire from the electric car became virtually impossible. Based on the results of the simulation as well as the analyzing some scientific publications and regulatory documents, the provisions of the national standard regarding fire protection of electric vehicle charging systems were substantiated.
