Description
Subject: This is an interdisciplinary lesson. It combines multiple subjects, specifically SPHE (Social, Personal & Health Education).
Abstract: This lesson raises children's awareness about universal rights through the exploration of the Summary of the Charter of Children's Rights and an examination of how these rights apply in their own lives. Inequalities in children's rights around the world will also be examined through the exploration and analysis of scenarios involving children from different parts of the globe.
Lesson Plan Method: The lesson employs various instructional methods, including face-to-face learning and collaborative learning.
Age of Students: 11-12-year-olds
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Teaching Time: 65 minutes
Learning Objectives: By completing this lesson plan, students will be able to:
- Identify and discuss the rights of children.
- Relate these rights to their own lives.
- Identify places where these rights are not met.
- Explore how justice and democracy can ensure people are afforded their rights.
- Apply their knowledge of children's rights to scenarios of children from around the world.
- Realize and begin to understand the unequal distribution of the world’s wealth.
