After four tumultuous years of the Donald Trump administration, there is a pervasive belief in the US and abroad that America’s role as a global policeman and the common good provider is gone for good.1 Years of costly war in the Middle East have been rescinded with troop withdrawals; multilateral agreements such as the Paris Climate Accords and the Iran nuclear deal were abandoned; plus, international organizations, including the UN Human Rights Council and UNESCO, were left behind.
