STRATEGIC INTEGRATION OF THE BLUE ECONOMY INITIATIVE INTO THE EDUCATION SYSTEM FOR SUSTAINABLE IMPLEMENTATION OF BLUE ECONOMY PROJECTS IN KENYA'S COAST REGION
Description
Abstract
This study investigates the strategic integration of the blue economy initiative into the education system to enhance the sustainable implementation of blue economy projects in Kenya's coastal region. Utilizing a mixed-methods research design, data were collected from 146 respondents, including educational institutions, policymakers, and stakeholders. The study's findings reveal that a higher level of blue economy integration into educational frameworks significantly improves the effectiveness of related projects. The availability of educational resources and support from policymakers also emerged as critical factors positively influencing project outcomes. A multiple regression analysis indicated that these variables collectively explained 62% of the variance in project effectiveness. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) further highlighted the direct and indirect impacts of these factors, underscoring the necessity of a holistic approach to blue economy initiatives. The study concludes that comprehensive educational integration, adequate resource provision, and robust policymaker engagement are essential for the success and sustainability of blue economy projects. Recommendations include enhancing curricula with blue economy content, improving resource allocation, fostering policymaker support, and adopting a multifaceted implementation strategy. Future research should explore longitudinal impacts, comparative studies, policy analysis, community perspectives, and technological innovations in blue economy education and practice.
