Description

Traditionally, some plants have not grown on our lands; they were introduced by
Britishers during their rule. They are foreign plant species that have invaded the fields and are
now overgrown, hampering the growth of native plants. These invasive plants must be
eradicated. Keeping the current scenario in mind, an attempt has been made to document the
phytochemicals present in the invasive plant, Cleome viscosa, through qualitative
phytochemical experiments. The results revealed the presence of tannins, phenolic
compounds, flavonoids, and steroids in the flower extracts in different solvents, which indicates
the pharmacological potential of the plant. Therefore, the flowers of C. viscosa could be used
in the in the pharmaceutical industry in the future.
