Description

We present measurements of atmospheric tau neutrino appearance using three years of data from the IceCube Neutrino Observatory. The DeepCore detector sub-array in the deepest clear ice of IceCube enables detection and reconstruction of neutrinos produced by the interaction of cosmic rays in the Earth’s atmosphere at energies and baselines suitable for the study of neutrino of oscillations. Results are presented based on two different analyses using neutrinos with reconstructed energies between 5.6 and 56 GeV - well above the tau production threshold - permitting the measurement of tau neutrino appearance over a range of baselines up to the diameter of the Earth. Our preliminary results are compatible with SM expectations.
