The relevance of the topic is confirmed by the fact that foreign direct investment (FDI) and its effects have been a popular subject of research in the world economy for several decades. There are many empirical and mathematical studies assessing the impact of FDI on the host economy. The dependence of the effects of FDI on the absorption capacity of host economies has been investigated. The main purpose of the research on assessing the impact of FDI on the recipient country's economy is to systematize the available approaches. Based on the works of foreign and domestic scientists, a comparative analysis of existing models has been carried out, their advantages and disadvantages have been revealed. The results obtained will allow choosing more effective tools for assessing the potential impact of FDI on the host economy.
