26. Balaustium murorum Hermann, 1804 (Fig. 26)

Trombidium murorum Hermann, 1804: 28.

Material examined. Ansan-si (37°13′53″N, 126°34′ 49″E), Korea; collected by JS Oh on 10 April 2020.

Deposition. NIBRIV0000879477.

World distribution. Cosmopolitan (Halliday, 2001).

Diagnosis. Body oval-shaped, blackish red, 585 - 796 μm long, 393 - 552 μm wide. Dorsum covered with densely uniformed penicilate setae. Eyes on lateral side of crista, a pair of urnulae between each eye postero-medially. Chelicera narrow dagger shaped. Pedipalp robust than other species, palp genu as wide as long, palp tibia triangularshaped.

Remarks. The genus Balaustium is a large group, with 41 species worldwide (Mąkol, 2010). This species is usually collected on the rocks and building walls from spring to early summer, whereas B. medicagoensis is collected on the ground surface from mid-summer to autumn. Balaustium medicagoensis has a much narrow crista than B. murorum and has a rough ventral surface with round papillae (Halliday, 2001).
