ChemCards: Organic Chemistry as Teaching Aid in Classroom Setting to Aid in Learning Preparations of Organic Compounds

Students in pre-university courses face troubles in memorising preparations and synthesising in Organic
Chemistry, the list of reactions and products can sometimes be confusing leaving students perplexed. Due to the
abundance of different organic reactions specific to a product, it becomes time consuming to implement conventional
techniques such as active recall using flashcards. The repetitiveness of this activity does not benefit students in
helping them recall all the specific compounds and their reactions. Additionally, some lecturers are not able to provide
a solution within the syllabus to help resolve this issue. To overcome the problem, this study was done to understand
how students undergo their examination preparations for Organic Chemistry and determine if using ChemCards:
Organic Chemistry can help resolve the issue of memorising the specific reactions related in Organic Chemistry.
