TikTok Tales: Boosting ESL Writing with TikTok Videos Compilation
Description
The increasing popularity of social media platforms like TikTok extends beyond mere entertainment,
presenting untapped potential in the realm of education, particularly for learning English as a Second Language
(ESL). Traditional language learning methods often struggle to fully engage learners, limiting their exposure to
authentic language use and practical application. This study examines how TikTok can serve as a valuable tool for
enhancing ESL learning. By analyzing TikTok's capabilities, we identify its potential benefits in providing learners
with exposure to authentic language use, offering opportunities to practice language skills, and fostering a
community of language learners. Utilizing a qualitative approach, the findings suggest that TikTok can effectively
complement traditional language learning methods, offering a fun and engaging way for learners to improve their
language proficiency. The integration of TikTok into ESL instruction can significantly enhance student engagement,
improve language skills through authentic exposure and practice, and build a supportive learning community.
Furthermore, TikTok's adaptable format allows for personalized and accessible learning experiences tailored to
various proficiency levels and learning styles. The commercialization potential of this approach is substantial, with
opportunities for developing subscription-based courses, partnering with educational influencers, creating
interactive learning modules, and integrating TikTok content into existing language learning apps. By leveraging
TikTok's vast user base and interactive features, educational businesses can create innovative products that meet the
evolving needs of language learners in the digital age. However, further research is needed to fully understand and
maximize TikTok's potential as a language-learning tool.
