Trees were obtained by using PAUP on a database of 156 craniodental characters, representing 365 morphological transformations across 48 taxa (see appendices). Six taxa were subsequently pruned from the study because of incompleteness, all being represented by only one tooth (Aegialodon, Comanchea, Trinititherium, Kermackia, Falepetrus, and Zygiocuspis). Tree length of the individual trees is 570; consistency index = 0.444; and retention index = 0.663.
