"Critique of the Hadiths on Wiping Over the Socks: A Critical Study"

According to the verse of Wudu (ablution) in the Qur'an, washing (ghasl) the feet is the prescribed act. Any deviation from the apparent meaning of the Qur'an should only be based on mutawatir (widely transmitted) or mashhoor (well-known) hadith. Therefore, within the Ahl al-Sunnah wa'l-Jama'ah (the Sunni community), it is permissible to wipe over the leather socks (khuffain) under specific conditions, as this practice is established by mutawatir hadith. A group of scholars also permits wiping over regular socks (jawrabain), citing certain hadiths as evidence. When a layperson examines these hadiths, the apparent correctness of their chains of transmission and the number of narrations might lead them to believe that these hadiths are authentic and reliable. However, in reality, the situation is different. This research aims to reveal the weaknesses and deficiencies of these hadiths, highlighting their lack of authenticity.
