Evaluating the Performance of Knurled Journal Bearings

Description

This paper explores the operational efficiency of knurled journal bearings when subjected to high-speed environments. By comparing the frictional behavior and load-handling capabilities of smooth versus knurled bearings, the study aims to highlight the benefits of knurled surfaces in enhancing bearing performance. Experimental findings reveal that knurled bearings substantially lower friction and improve lubrication retention, suggesting their suitability for high-speed applications.
