This report (deliverable 3.7) describes CARBOMICA, the resource allocation tool developed for modelling alternative mitigation interventions in health faciltiies.
CARBOMICA was created to assess the impact of carbon-cutting interventions, identify feasible strategies, and allocate resources effectively. It provides a structured decision-making framework that bridges the gap between sustainability goals and practical implementation. The tool aims to help healthcare stakeholders combat climate change by providing data-driven analysis, modelling, optimisation, and decision support.
CARBOMICA used a stakeholder-driven approach throughout the development process to ensure its relevance and effectiveness. CARBOMICA’s functionalities, data inputs, and decision-making frameworks were all shaped by active engagement and stakeholder collaboration. This approach ensured the tool was tailored to the healthcare sector’s specific needs and challenges in addressing climate change.
CARBOMICA was created in response to the growing emphasis on sustainability and carbon reduction in healthcare operations in the Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICSs). The tool supports healthcare stakeholders in achieving carbon mitigation goals and promoting sustainable practises within the sector by providing a tailored tool that combines data analysis, modelling, optimisation, and decision support.
