Description

Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are commonly prescribed antidepressants. They can have unexpected adverse effects, such as haemorrhagic events. In the light of the literature and a clinical case, we discuss the case of a patient presenting with moderate metrorrhagia following the use of paroxetine in combination with a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. The diagnosis of iatrogenic metrorrhagia was made after ruling out other possible diagnoses. The aim of this clinical presentation is to provide a clear understanding of the haemorrhagic side-effects of paroxetine and its interactions with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
