TOMO: Traffic Optimization and Merge Organization
Description
We present a mathematical model to simulate the traffic congestion that occurs when a multi-lane road, such as a freeway, must end a lane due to construction or a traffic incident. We examine a number of mathematical theories in deciding how to simulate and ease congestion. In particular, we consider elements of queueing theory, congestion game theory, and three-phase traffic theory, using modern technology to boost our throughput.
