The role of instrumental performance in Waldorf school

Description

The article tells about instrumental performance on music lessons. Music teachers are often faced with the problem of organizing the class orchestra and instrumental performance. The music lesson which includes only theoretical information about composers and listening to music is not interesting for pupils. Pupils do not remember such lessons.

Instrumental performance’s methodical recommendations are aimed at the younger pupils. The issue of music lessons with instrumental performance in secondary school is still being discussed.

The special system of music education has been used in the Moscow Waldorf School for 25 years. This system includes acquaintance with various musical instruments and practice. Thus, this article describes the instrumental performance as a part of music lessons at the Waldorf School from 1 to 11 classes.

We believe that elements of the Waldorf music system can be used in various education programs and in various types of children institutions. In this regard, this article may be interesting to the teachers of general education schools and special musical institutions.
