СТИЛІСТИЧНО МАРКОВАНІ ЛЕКСИЧНІ НЕОЛОГІЗМИ В ДИСКуРСІ ЗМІ ПОЧАТКу ХХІ СТОЛІТТЯ

Description

The beginning of the second millennium is characterized by significant changes both in Ukraine and in the world that considerably affect the development of the Ukrainian language, mainly its lexical level, which is developing most dynamically. The linguistic
practice of mass media discourse particularly stands out among other types of discourses with active production of new words and their communication to a wide audience. Among the extensive corpus of neologisms, the stylistically marked lexical units occupy an important place, whose study has always been and remains one of key issues of linguistics. The article focuses on the linguistic analysis of stylistically marked neologisms of media discourse typical of the beginning of the XXI century, which are not registered in Ukrainian explanatory dictionaries. Thus, stylistically colored formations that came into use at the beginning of the new millennium (over 150 words) served as the material of our research. In the paper, the author presents his own understanding of the notion “the neologisms’ stylistic marking” as well as singles out the main extra- and intralingual factors that contribute to active emergence and intensive use of such units in the discourse of modern mass media. The author also performs a detailed analysis of both positively- and negatively-evaluative neologisms and defines the reasons and scopes of their usage. The paper shows the prevalence of colloquial units and neologisms introduced by authors; reveals motives and grounds that cause this phenomenon as well
as generalizes the genres in whose texts the analyzed units function most actively. Consequently, stylistically marked lexical neologisms are characterized by active emergence and functioning in the mass media discourse at the beginning of the XXI century as a result of interaction of a number of extra- and intralingual factors. The results of the carried out research give every reason to speak about prospects of further studies of various types of stylistically marked lexical units, in particular within the framework of word-building and cognitive aspects, as well as of carrying out comparative research in both closely and distantly related languages.
