Open Science Learning Gate
Description
Open Science (OS) is key in the rapidly evolving research landscape, driven by new technologies, methodologies and research interests as well as processes.
Various stakeholders contribute to excellence in research, each with different knowledge, perspectives on the requirements, and field of application in OS. To boost high-quality open science practices, the ‘Open Science Learning Gate’ aims to connect the research community and harmonise as well as standardise a) tailored and b) high-quality OS training.
We adapted and modified the OS actor’s classification of the European Science Cloud (1; see the target groups in the poster) to start the
a) TAILORED intersection of OS training. The ‘Open Science Learning Gate’ takes the rapidly changing research practices into account and harmonises and supports
b) HIGH-QUALITY OS training based on the research community’s principles of responsible conduct of research, namely research integrity, research ethics and ethics of artificial intelligence tools operating with OS resources.
To use and be part of this intersection, OS trainers are invited to join via our ‘Open Science Learning Gate’ Questionnaire and to
c) COMMUNICATE as experts which principles are addressed in their training (representing specific OS stakeholders) and
d) ASSESS and - if necessary AMEND - their training envisaging the current status quo set by the research community.
e) By including at least 80% of the current principles, trainers will be able to BADGE their training as high quality and CONNECT their OS training via the ‘Open Science Learning Gate’ to the community.
