Description

Comic books as Ontographs: The composition process of Abrégé de Bande Dessinée Franco-Belge

Artes Dibujadas (C2)
Coloquio (virtual) Internacional de Investigadores en Diseño
VI Edición 2021

It examines the composition process of my book Abrégé de bande dessinée franco-belge, published in 2018 and under the book catalogue of eight comic publishers. Abrégé was produced following the precepts of ontography, a model of conceptual object representation theorised by video game designer and Object-Oriented Ontology philosopher Ian Bogost. Abrégé presents a visual and personal typology of graphemes drawn from a shared reservoir of Franco-Belgian comics tradition, where a variety of comic proto-memes, metanarrative devices, paratextual elements and building blocks of European comics can be found.
