Potential Markers of Consciousness in Other Animals: Key References

Animal consciousness research has so far focussed on five broad types of potential marker of consciousness in other animals: learning-related tests, integrative decision-making, mental simulation, metacognitive and report-like behaviour, and REM-like sleep and dream-like states. This document provides some key references regarding each type of test followed by a summary table.
