Chironomus luridus Srenzke

Description

Chironomus luridus Srenzke

The chromosome set is 2n = 8. Chromosome AE is submetacentric, chromosomes CD and BF are metacentric, chromosome G is telocentric. Near to the centromere region of chromosome G there is puff. Two BRs are close to each other. In the middle of the chromosome G there is a constriction surrounded by thick dark bands, a marker of the species (Fig. 17). The “basic” patterns in A2.2 are in inverted state in comparison with the standard species, C. piger. Twenty-two larvae were analyzed.

Collection sites: Sofia: South Park; Varna, region St. Konstantin and Elena.
