Microgale longicaudata Thomas 1882

Microgale longicaudata Thomas 1882, J. Linn. Soc., Zool., 16: 320.

Type Locality: Ankáfana forest, E Betsileo, Madagascar [Ankafina, Fianarantsoa, Fianarantsoa Province, 21°12’S 47°12’E (see MacPhee, 1987; Carleton and Schmidt, 1990)].

Vernacular Names: Lesser Long-tailed Shrew Tenrec.

Synonyms: Microgale majori Thomas 1918; Microgale prolixacaudata G. Grandidier 1937.

Distribution: Eastern humid forest and central highlands of N, E and SE, and western deciduous forest of W Madagascar.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
