Type Locality: " Surinam ".
Vernacular Names: Greater Grison.
Subspecies::

Subspecies Galictis vittata subsp. canaster Nelson 1901
Distribution: Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Guyana, Mexico (San Luis Potosi and Veracruz), Panama, Peru, Venezuela.
Conservation: CITES – Appendix III (Costa Rica).
Discussion: Krumbiegel (1942) included allamandi. Reviewed by Yensen and Tarifa (2003 a).
