Monodelphis iheringi Thomas 1888, Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., ser. 6, 1: 159.

Type Locality: " Rio Grande do Sul;" identified as Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul, Taquara, by Thomas (1888 a).

Vernacular Names: Ihering's Three-striped Opossum.

Distribution: SE Brazil (Espírito Santo, São Paulo, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul).

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (nt).

Discussion: Previously considered a subspecies of M. americana. Reviewed by Pine (1977).
