Type Locality: Kenya, Mt. Elgon, Kirui.
Vernacular Names: Elgon Shrew.
Distribution: Mountains in W Kenya and NE Tanzania.
Conservation: IUCN – Vulnerable.
Discussion: Regarded as a distinct species by Heim de Balsac and Meester (1977) and Hutterer (1983 b).
