Discussion: Reviewed by Smith and Hood (1983) and Bergmans (2001). Bergmans (2001) proposed inclusion of Paranyctimene as a subgenus of Nyctimene, but I retain Paranyctimene as a distinct genus pending phylogenetic studies of relationships of these taxa (see comments under Paranyctimene). Species groups follow Bergmans (2001).
