Type Locality: Zanzibar.

Vernacular Names: Minor Epauletted Fruit Bat.

Distribution: Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, Kenya, Rwanda, SE Dem. Rep. Congo, Zambia, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Uganda, Malawi.

Conservation: IUCN / SSC Action Plan (1992) – Not Threatened. IUCN 2003 – Not listed.

Discussion: gambianus species group. Included in labiatus by some authors (e.g., Claessen and De Vree, 1991), but see Bergmans (1988, 1997).
