Trachypithecus (Trachypithecus) pileatus (Blyth 1843)

[Semnopithecus] pileatus Blyth 1843, J. Asiat. Soc. Bengal, 12: 174.

Type Locality: India, Assam.

Vernacular Names: Capped Langur.

Subspecies::

Subspecies Trachypithecus (Trachypithecus) pileatus subsp. pileatus Blyth 1843

Subspecies Trachypithecus (Trachypithecus) pileatus subsp. brahma Wroughton 1916

Subspecies Trachypithecus (Trachypithecus) pileatus subsp. durga Wroughton 1916

Subspecies Trachypithecus (Trachypithecus) pileatus subsp. tenebricus Wroughton 1915

Distribution: Assam, NW Burma (west of Chindwin River); E Bangladesh.

Conservation: CITES – Appendix I; U.S. ESA – Endangered; IUCN – Endangered as T. p. pileatus, T. p. brahma, T. p. durga, and T. p. tenebricus.

Discussion: T. pileatus species group. Does not include shortridgei (see Groves, 2001 c).
