Ateles belzebuth E. Geoffroy 1806, Ann. Mus. Hist. Nat. Paris, 7: 27.

Type Locality: Venezuela, Esmeralda.

Vernacular Names: White-fronted Spider Monkey.

Synonyms: Ateles bartlettii Gray 1867; Ateles braccatus Pelzeln 1883; Ateles brissonii (Fischer 1829); Ateles chuva Schlegel 1876; Ateles fuliginosus Kuhl 1820; Ateles variegatus Wagner 1840.

Distribution: Cordillera Oriental, Colombia to Venezuela and N Peru.

Conservation: CITES – Appendix II; IUCN – Vulnerable.

Discussion: Does not include hybridus or marginatus (Groves, 2001 c).
