Discussion: Status as a full genus restored by Groves (2000 b). May be sister taxon of Eudorcas, as shares translocation of autosome to Y chromosome; Nanger species share 9 unique centric fusions (Vassart et al., 1995) and are genetically distinct (Rebholz and Harley, 1999).
