Dasyurus hallucatus Gould 1842

Dasyurus hallucatus Gould 1842, Proc. Zool. Soc. Lond., 1842: 41.

Type Locality: Australia, Northern Territory, Port Essington.

Vernacular Names: Northern Quoll.

Synonyms: Dasyurus exilis Thomas 1909; Dasyurus nesaeus Thomas 1926; Dasyurus predator Thomas 1926; Dasyurus quoll (Zimmermann 1783).

Distribution: Australia: N Northern Territory, N and NE Queensland, and N Western Australia.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (nt). Common.

Discussion: Sometimes assigned to Satanellus. The original name Mustela quoll Zimmermann, 1783, was suppressed under Article 80 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature, 1999), now correctly Dasyurus hallucatus.
